U.S. Department of State issues travel alert for Zambia

The U.S. Department of State issued a travel alert for US citizens regarding the presidential, parliamentary and local elections in Zambia held on 20 Sept 2011. According to the U.S. State Department, the potential for unrest or disruptions surrounding the elections is high and U.S. citizens planning a trip to Zambia during or immediately following the elections should therefore monitor local news and assess local conditions and travel routes when making travel plans.
